How to fold a Fox Pup
Below are step-by-step photo instructions for folding the "Fox Pup."
You can learn a slightly more advanced version of this model, plus 13 others, on our latest DVD product: Classic Cardinal and Other Fantastic Folds. With video, you get to see the actual folding process as it goes along, and you can start, stop, and replay every section. If you've had trouble learning to fold from diagrams (or even the photos below) this is a terrific way to learn. See all the models, plus their descriptions, in the Classic Cardinal E-Gallery, too.

Start with a square of paper, white (or the side you don't want to show) up.
Fold in half, diagonally, to make a triangle...
...like this.
Fold in half so the righthand corner lies on top of the lefthand corner, to make an even smaller triangle...
...like this.
Now fold just the top flap up and to the right, so the corner lies on top of the uppermost corner...
...like this.
Turn the model over, left-to-right, like flipping a page in a book...
...so it looks like this. There is a folded edge at the bottom, and two folded edges at the left.
Now, fold the lower right corner up and to the left, so it lies on top of the upper right corner...
...like this.
Now grab all 8 layers of paper along the upper right, and fold them down and to the left, making the crease not very far from the edge...
...so it looks like this.
Reach inside the middle of the 8 edges (there will be four layers on either side) and open the layers up...
...like this. The bit in the center won't lie flat.
Use your other hand...
...like this, to squash it flat.
You're almost done!
The pup looks like this.
Now, if you like, fold up just the tip of the nose...
...and the fox pup is finished. |
