The Origamido Studio was co-founded in 1996 by Michael LaFosse and Richard Alexander to be an art studio, gallery, and teaching center dedicated to the art of paperfolding.
“We have been fortunate to have had many great artists and students come to our studio from all over the world, to teach, to learn, and to work with us.”
Michael coined the term “Origamido,” featuring the Japanese “do” suffix to reflect origami’s potential as a worthwhile lifelong pursuit (“study,” “journey,” “path,” or “way”). He realized that he often re-visits a subject over many years, exploring various levels of understanding and refinement of the art. Michael and Richard are perhaps the first and only origami artists who make their own custom papers for each new piece.
